Root chakra - Gateway of life and Death
The chakras are a bridge between physical and non-physical being and Life force energy flows both through the universe and through the body. All reiki and complementary alternative medicine techniques, including meditation with reiki teach us how to regain balance and find stillness.
Location
The Root Chakra, also known as Muladhara, is the Base Chakra and it is located at the base of the spine or coccyx, its representative color is vibrant red. Considering its location, the Root Chakra is closely related to what concerns sexuality, lust, and obsession, while it is physically associated with the adrenal glands.
The Root chakra represents the place of birth and rebirth and is considered the Gateway of life and Death because it is essentially our connection to the Earth, and it reminds us of our ancient roots. Not only does Gateway of life create a strong connection between us and the Earth, it also involves the major human needs, as shelter, enough food, clothing, the desire to live.
You know that your Muladhara is balanced, when you:
- feel centered, grounded, healthy, fully alive
- have unlimited physical energy
- can manifest abundance
- take good care of your body simply love your life
When this chakra is weak or blocked, you:
- Have weak or no confidence
- can't achieve goals
- feel unlovable
- little interest in sex
- are fearful and insecure
- feeling misunderstood
- try to compensate the lack of love with the addiction to material things

How to balance the root chakra
Start a meditation with reiki. Choose a comfortable place where you will be undisturbed for about 15 minutes. Put on some chakra meditation music or select some relaxing nature sounds (special brainwave audio tracks) to help you relax. Some wonderful sounds to listen to during your meditating are the Tibetan Bowls, which create a deep sense of peace. The sound of the C note resonates with the root chakra energy and helps you rebalance and heal the chakra. You can also use the red color when the root chakra in underactive and choose blue for an overactive root chakra.
Wear these colors with to help bring back you balance until you feel good again. Also, eat foods of these colors to help you regain your balance, including tomatoes, red peppers and blueberries.
Other ways to balance the Muladhara include:
- Dancing is very good for grounding
- Listen to chakra meditation music
- Walk barefoot
- House cleaning and cooking
- Hug a tree, take care of your plants
The Root chakra brings balance to our physical bodies by maintaining synchronization with the electromagnetic frequencies of the Earth. Meditation with reiki and all the other balancing techniques keep the Root Chakra clear and vibrant.
